I&#8217;ve already changed up the look of my planner, my desk accessories and my baby bump definitely is giving me a new look in the new year! I also want a new look for my phone. So I thought, my buy one when I can DIY it for tonight&#8217;s #htgawcrafting challenge. So I decided on a custom iPhone case. Now don&#8217;t be shocked when you see the pictures. You&#8217;ll notice my design is NOT PINK! It&#8217;s teal. It&#8217;s okay. My sister claims I have a secret love affair with teal. She&#8217;s right. Seriously though. I&#8217;ve been looking for a project to use this gorgeous Japanese-themed paper from The Paper Source and I found one.<\/p>\n<p>Okay, enough of me going on about my love of teal. Eeek!<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"line-height: 1.5;\" data-reactid=\".1.1.0.0.2.1.0.0.1.4\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.silhouetteamerica.com\/shop\/adhesive-vinyl\/transfer-paper\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Silhouette transfer paper<\/a><\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"line-height: 1.5;\" data-reactid=\".1.1.0.0.2.1.0.0.1.4\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.silhouetteamerica.com\/shop\/tools\/TOOL-01-3T\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Silhouette hook<\/a><\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"line-height: 1.5;\" data-reactid=\".1.1.0.0.2.1.0.0.1.4\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.silhouetteamerica.com\/shop\/tools\/TOOL-02-3T\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Silhouette scraper<\/a><\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"line-height: 1.5;\" data-reactid=\".1.1.0.0.2.1.0.0.1.6\">Clear phone case &#8211; I have an iPhone 6 and I got the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.case-mate.com\/collections\/iphone-6s-cases\/products\/clear-iphone-6-6s-naked-tough-case\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Naked Tough Case<\/a>\u00a0from Casemate<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"line-height: 1.5;\" data-reactid=\".1.1.0.0.2.1.0.0.1.6\">Scissors<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"line-height: 1.5;\" data-reactid=\".1.1.0.0.2.1.0.0.1.6\">Pencil<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2 class=\"p1\">Steps<\/h2>\n<p class=\"p1\">Step 1: Decide on what expression you want to add to your custom phone case. I went with &#8220;Get your mommy hustle on&#8221; cause that&#8217;s what I needed to do. I use my phone for EVERYTHING so it made sense to have a motivational quote like this to keep me going.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">Step 2: Open your Silhouette Studio on your computer. Create whatever expression you would like for your phone and size it to its\u00a0dimensions. (Make sure you account for your camera phone lens.) Select a font that you like that\u00a0complements the pattern you plan on using for your case. Also, I recommend drawing a model of your phone as well &#8211; a simple rectangle &#8211;\u00a0\u00a0based on its\u00a0size position\u00a0your expression in it. Then you can delete the rectangle once you like your positioning.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.pinkimono.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/12\/htgawc-day-16.png\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-793\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-793\" src=\"http:\/\/www.pinkimono.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/12\/htgawc-day-16-1024x542.png\" alt=\"htgawc day 16\" width=\"720\" height=\"381\" srcset=\"http:\/\/www.pinkimono.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/12\/htgawc-day-16-1024x542.png 1024w, http:\/\/www.pinkimono.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/12\/htgawc-day-16-300x159.png 300w, http:\/\/www.pinkimono.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/12\/htgawc-day-16-768x407.png 768w, http:\/\/www.pinkimono.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/12\/htgawc-day-16.png 1995w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 720px) 100vw, 720px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">Step 3:\u00a0Set your cut settings for Silhouette Vinyl &#8211; your blade should be set to one. Here&#8217;s a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=_3EfD0auu3k\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">video<\/a> from Silhouette on loading and cutting with your adhesive vinyl. Pretty much, after adjusting your cut settings\u00a0on your computer and on your machine, load your vinyl roll without the cutting mat into the machine. It should still be rolled up. Make sure you load your vinyl with the &#8220;Load Media&#8221; function on your Cameo. Now send that vinyl through the machine. Cut it out. Make sure it fits inside your case. Then line up your patterned paper to you transfer sheet with the expression. Press them together so the expression sticks to your paper, but not too hard that the stickiness of the transfer paper rips your pattern.
